No, I'm not talking about the common thing me and my friends have with eachother. I'm talking about the movie, Idiocracy with Luke Wilson and Dax Sheppard. I watched it last night with my friend Ashley at the tail end of a great night. True, I did fall asleep like I always do, but the beginning really caught my eye. This movie is about an average guy in the army: average personality, average IQ, with hardly any ties to society since he became the army librarian and since his parents & siblings all died. So, he's seen as the prime choice for a little experiment the army wants to do with the final product being the means of preserving the best soldiers for a year or two for when there is a lack of good soldiers.
This movie really made me think. In the movie, society gets dumber through the years, instead of smarter. The beginning outlines this in a neat way by explaining two case studies: a couple with both over 130 as their IQ, and a man whore with an IQ of less than 50. The couple tries and tries to get pregnant, but with only failed attempts, while the man whore impregnates equally stupid ladies and have the most idiotic children.
Anyways.... Luke Wilson's character is preserved, but for 15 years instead of one or two, by accident. As society lost brain cells over the years, he maintained his and can now outsmart most of society rather than just stay average.
Now, I won't tell you what happens next (...mainly because I fell asleep and don't actually know what comes next :P) but I will say that you should see it if you want a thought provoking and funny movie.
Until next time...

Fastpitch!
Sooo.... The season opener was yesterday! 2 games against Cayuga Gamblers in the burning sun, and now I have burning arms! Sunscreen will be my friend this summer... if I don't forget to put some on!
Well, to cut the story short (you can see the full game summary on my other blog self-titled)... we lost both games, the first one was 3 - 1 and the second was 8 - 4.
A few games here and there, along with school, family, friends, and work will keep me busy. No doubt about it. Oh! Forgot to mention that the Grand Championships this year are being hosted by St. Catharines (who I play for) so we are entered automatically. Usually, you need to be in the top 2 or 3 of a qualifying tournament to be able to attend, but the host team attends with no questions asked! I'm liking that! Although we'll still go to a qualifier tournament, it'll be more to see how the other teams are shaping up near the end of the season than to actually win (it'd be nice though... fingers crossed!).
Hmm, what's up other than fastpitch? School is pretty busy right now. I heard someone say today that there are only 5 more full weeks left of school, not including exams. I'm so happy though! Oh, and in fitness class, we're working on putting together an Ultimate Fitness Challenge (UFC for short, not to be confused with the wrestling/mixed martial arts program) for both the girl's class and the guy's class to compete in. Along with that, there comes fitness testing every so often to see how we're progressing through the semester. We had to bench press 60% of our body weight today! It was tough, and I had to go slightly less. I usually work my legs in the weight room.... I should change that eh?
Well! That's all, folks! I must be heading to bed now. Slo-pitch tournament for school is tomorrow, wish me luck!
Toodles! :)

Sooo... BC anyone?
Wow, it really has been a while since I've posted last. Just about a month, omg. I'm slacking. I apologize to those who read this.
I have nothing exciting to post, other than the fact I am leaving for British Columbia in 27 hours! Woo!
My whole family is going (myself, my 2 brothers, and my parents). Its wedding season, so we're going to the wedding of a family friend :) Leave my house at 4am, catch flight at 7am, arrive in B.C. around 11am (gain of 3 hours) followed by a 1.5 hr ferry ride... all stations are a-go!
I haven't been on a plane in a while, so I'm kind of nervous when it comes to my carry-on bag. What can I bring? What can't I bring? What should I wear? What do I need to have handy and under the plane? Goshes, so many questions!
For one, I'll be dressing comfortably. I don't want to be stuck in a plane for 7 hours without being comfy. But, I want to look respectable too. I'll probably wear my comfy jeans that still make my butt look good (hehe...) so I won't have to change when I get off the plane.
In-flight entertainment: bring my own or use what they have? If a good movie is playing, I'll watch it. But I'll be trying to borrow my friend's old iPod for the week (I lost mine and she has an iPod touch now so she has no use for a 4gb vintage nano) just in case it gets boring on the flight/ferry.
OH! IDEA! I can have a competition with myself to see how many books I can read. I'd like to read one from the library but what if I lose it over there? There would be a fine for sure... $100? $200, $500 ?! Whatever it is, I'm not willing to pay, lol.
Well, I'm off to finish my homework then sleep! Oh geeze, this day feels like its been going on for too, too, TOO, long! Nighty night, my fellow bloggers. I have an idea for tomorrow's blog, if I'm not too busy packing last minute things XD

(New) Music
Salutations! My friends have the ultimately, most amazing taste in music! Becca and Ashley kick ass at finding music! Becca is the trendy hipster who listens to Coldplay, The Arkells, The Smiths, etc. Ashley is the math geek with a 40-year-old man's music taste, but I guess this means 40-year-old men have good taste (in music)(Queen, The The, David Bowie...all the oldies).
I'm the new-age homedog, young with older influences because of my friends. My list goes from Ke$ha and 3OH!3 to The Beatles. I keep things interesting. Anything with a beat,
BUT! Recently, my musical list is expanding to unforeseen horizons. Here's a list you might want to check out. Not saying you are obligated to, but if you're looking to broaden your musical interests you might want to check these out (the letters stand for who I got the music from; B = Becca, A = Ashley)(this isn't all the music I like, but just the stuff most people haven't heard of):
- Jump, Little Children
- The Rocket Summer
- Camera Obscura
- Harvey Danger
- Alkaline Trio
- Faber Drive
- Fever Ray (A)
- Kings of Leon (B)
- The Arkells (B)
- Morrisey (A,B)
- The Decemberists
- The New Amsterdams
- Neutral Milk Hotel
- Pulp
- Said The Whale
- A Rocket To The Moon
- The Sounds
- Toad The Wet Sprocket
Well, enjoy! For some of these bands, my friends listen to them to but I beat them to finding them first so they didn't introduce me to them, you know? Sweet...
I'm off to bed, its midnight and I've got a math test tomorrow! Gonna kick some ass! Buh-bye!

Grease Lightning!
Yesterday, I went to Shae's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo with family & my friend Ashley (http://www.ashley-trixx.blogspot.com).
Grease is the word! It was fantastic! They changed a bunch of things, like adding new songs, changing the order of songs, location of songs, but I still really liked it :) I know they couldn't just recreate the movie because of technology and stuff. For example, they took out the car race scene between Kenickie and the leader of the other gang. The other gang wasn't even in the play, which was kind of surprising but to show everything between both groups would probably have taken too much time.
The girl who played Sandy was actually in the show "Legally Blonde: The Search For Elle Woods". She was a finalist, and in turn became the understudy. Fortunately for her, unfortunate for the winner, she had to play the part over 60 times on tour when the other girl couldn't (for reasons unknown, lol).
Danny in the play was no John Travolta, but I still really liked this actor. He knew how to portray the right amount of emotion, like while singing at the drive-in, after Sandy rejects him for wanting more than a kiss (if you know what I mean).
I thought it was really neat even before the play started, because the guy who was playing Vince Fontaine came out and sang 3 songs that most of the (older) crowd knew and sang along with. I can't remember what they were but one had a mention of Great Balls of Fire 8-) He was hilarious! I loved his dance moves. He'd be moving across the front of the stage and doing this leg-twisty thing. Wow, sexy! :P He definitely knows how to put on a show.
-----------
On a second note, I want to let everyone know that I am writing a story. It is still rough, just started the first chapter 20 minutes ago. But it might actually turn out well, of course I'm hoping it will. I'll be posting each chapter in a blog post, along with regular things to blog about like how I wore my hair today and if my homework actually got done (it would be a first, lol). Anyways, comments are always appreciated. For my story, I'd love some constructive critism. I don't mean saying "You suck! Don't quit your day job!" but more along the lines of "Hey! I like the way you did this but maybe you could work on this." ....if you catch my drift. And I'm sure I'm overestimating how many people actually read this. But dream big, right?
Well, I'm off for now! Until next time, stay chill :)
